Locket

The Greatest Generation, also called the G.I. Generation for their efforts during World War II, fought not for fame or recognition but because it was the right thing to do. They understood the agony of war and the pain of losing that which can never be recovered. They trusted their instincts…so when they fell in love, it was for good. In wartime, nothing is guaranteed and tomorrow might never come. The Greatest Generation appreciated every moment of happiness.

Locket is a historical romance that showcases remarkable characters who embody the ethos of this era. Laura, a demure, educated young woman of privilege, is determined to do something of value. She decides to join the Army Nurse Corps where she meets Joseph O’Hara, an army surgeon.

Eric Von Stern, an OSS officer, is attempting to uncover the truth about the Nazi atrocities that are still unknown to the free world. His counterintelligence work puts him in touch with people as high-ranking as Churchill and as average as Spanish-born Margareta Meyer, a young woman who escaped Auschwitz. His investigations include a focus on Ingrid Wilson, the wife of an associate and is suspected of being a Nazi informer.

Follow our characters through a riveting story that carries them into a wonderfully spellbinding adventure.

A historical fiction epic of families and lives during WWII. Intertwined and overlayed plots involving people as they strive to survive as WWII sweeps them up. Complete and spellbinding character and plot development. Generations of families followed throughout. Truly, a next classic. A totally engrossing must Read!

- Peter Littlefield

Van Patton infuses this work with an almost spiritual love of life and the world. She portrays very visual scenes of life: its beauty its ugliness the sweat of determination the consuming fire of true love the sweetness of hope. A spectacular read leaving the reader joyful and warm.

- Bob Stevenson

This powerful story is artfully entertaining and not easily put down. It is an engrossing human drama that is a poignant reminder of the atrocities of war, the power of love and the will to survive.

- Debra Bagley

Once I got into all the characters it was a real page turner.

- Jack Dannheisser

I think that anyone who likes romance and who likes books set in trying times will love this book. Her characters are well developed, and the storyline though complicated at times is compelling at the same time. It is the way with times of war- life sort of gets thrown up in the air and where people tumble often separates them from those they love from. This is a good enjoyable read.
